Aircraft decision brief
Model overview
Developed from the IAI Galaxy and later branded by Gulfstream, the G200 combines a wide, tall cabin with PW306A engines and transcontinental mission capability. Its cabin and baggage volume remain competitive with many newer super-midsize aircraft.
The final G200 left production in December 2011 as the G280 succeeded it. The model can offer compelling space and range value when runway performance, cabin updates and maintenance position are favorable.
Mission fit
Decision lens
Planning lens
Confirm PW306A engine and APU program status, landing gear, corrosion prevention and major inspection timing. Early aircraft and high-utilization histories require careful structural and records review.
Cabin cooling, avionics, connectivity and interior condition vary widely. Runway performance and payload should be tested against the actual airports and temperatures in the planned mission.
Category context
The G200 generally costs less than a G280 while offering a similarly spacious cabin. The G280 adds a new wing, improved engines, better runway performance and a newer flight deck, which can justify its premium for demanding missions.
