Aircraft decision brief
Model overview
The original Citation X paired a highly swept wing with Rolls-Royce AE3007 engines to become one of the fastest civilian aircraft of its era. It offers a stand-up midsize cabin and can materially reduce travel time on longer domestic missions.
Production of the original designation concluded in 2012 before the upgraded Citation X+ entered service. Its value proposition remains speed, provided runway needs and operating complexity fit the mission.

Decision lens
Planning lens
Engine and APU program status, inspection timing, landing gear, brakes and parts planning are key diligence items. High-speed operations and high-utilization histories make complete technical records particularly important.
Runway requirements and fuel burn can exceed slower midsize alternatives. Confirm avionics, cabin systems, connectivity and the availability of experienced Citation X maintenance support.
Category context
The Citation X is faster than the Sovereign and most traditional midsize competitors, but the Sovereign offers better short-field utility. The X+ adds more performance and a newer flight deck at a higher acquisition cost.
