Aircraft decision brief

Where the Citation CJ2+ fits

Model overview

About the Citation CJ2+

The CJ2+ combines a stretched CitationJet cabin with FADEC-equipped FJ44-3A engines and Collins Pro Line 21 avionics. It is commonly selected for regional missions that need more passenger and baggage capability than an entry-level jet.

Production ended in 2014 as Cessna concentrated the CJ line around the M2, CJ3+ and CJ4. The pre-owned fleet remains supported within the broad Model 525 family.

Mission fit

Best for

  • Single-pilot regional travel
  • Six-passenger missions
  • Operators moving up from an entry-level jet

Decision lens

Key advantages

  • Single-pilot capability
  • Useful balance of speed and efficiency
  • More cabin and baggage than the CJ1+

Planning lens

Ownership considerations

Review FJ44 engine-program coverage, hot-section and overhaul position, phase inspections and cycle history. High-utilization charter or training service warrants careful logbook and structural-record review.

Actual payload with full fuel can constrain some missions. Verify aircraft empty weight, avionics configuration, deice condition, cabin equipment and current service-bulletin status.

Category context

How it compares

The CJ2+ sits between the CJ1+ and CJ3 in cabin and mission capability. A CJ3 generally provides more range and cabin length, while the CJ2+ may offer a lower acquisition and operating threshold.
