Aircraft decision brief
Model overview
The CJ1+ updated the CJ1 with FADEC-equipped FJ44 engines and a Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck. Its compact cabin and modest runway needs suit short regional trips, owner-flown operations and small corporate flight departments.
Production concluded in 2011 as Cessna rationalized the lower end of the CJ line. The model remains relevant where operating simplicity and airport access matter more than cabin size or long range.
Mission fit
Decision lens
Planning lens
Confirm engine-program status, hot-section and overhaul position, cycle history and compliance with current service information. Training, insurance and recurrent requirements should be evaluated for the intended pilot profile.
Payload is sensitive to passenger count and full fuel. Review actual empty weight, avionics databases, deice condition, cabin connectivity and damage history for the individual aircraft.
Category context
The CJ1+ is smaller and shorter-ranged than the CJ2+ or CJ3, but it can be less costly to acquire and operate. The Citation M2 offers newer cabin and avionics features, while the CJ1+ retains a simpler legacy-value proposition.
